Penny Fowler
SPACER
  
    Penny works in bone china and porcelain clays, combining layering, inlay and carving techniques. She creates plaster moulds within which her forms are cast. These forms are then handcarved through the layers of colour and finely sanded to achieve an exquisite natural and smooth 'pebble' like quality.

She explores the hollow form by carving shapes which allow the play of light and dark on these almost transluscent surfaces. The use of colour to form opaque areas emphasise the link between light and dark.
